Former Texas Instruments
Senior VP
Built TI’s World-Leading Mobile Semiconductor Operation
SAN MATEO, CA - October 9th 2007 -
Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security and DRM
solutions for mobile devices and flash memory, announced today
that Gilles Delfassy has joined the company’s board
of directors. Delfassy will enhance Discretix with his considerable
wireless business and technical skills built over a 28-year
career at Texas Instruments, during which time he turned that
company’s wireless semiconductor division into a multi-billion-dollar
operation.
Delfassy retired earlier this year as senior vice president
and head of TI’s wireless terminals unit. He launched
that unit in 1995, eventually growing it into the world’s
leading supplier of semiconductors for wireless handsets.
Among his many accomplishments, Delfassy pioneered TI’s
“LoCosto” single-chip cell phone technology, which
brought affordable cell phones to China, Africa, India and
other developing area for the first time. His division also
developed TI’s OMAP™ platform, which introduced
cell phones to multimedia and ushered in a new era in mobile
communications and entertainment.
“Gilles Delfassy, through his pioneering achievements
at TI, changed the cellular world. He is an immense talent
and a most welcome addition to the Discretix board of directors,”
said Gal Salomon, CEO of Discretix. “His knowledge of
mobile multimedia systems, along with his strategic business
skills and his extensive network of corporate contacts, will
serve to enhance Discretix’ strong position in the mobile
security market.”
“Through its technology leadership and savvy awareness
of market trends, Discretix has become the leading provider
of mobile security solutions,” said Delfassy. “I
believe Discretix has an exciting combination of products
and corporate leadership. This is an exciting company and
one I’m looking forward to helping.”
Delfassy joined TI in 1978. He received a Certificat d’Aptitude
a L’Administration des Entreprises at Institut d’Administration
des Enterprises de Paris that year; in 1977 he received an
engineering diploma in electrical engineering from Ecole Nationale
Superieure d’Electronique de Toulouse.
