Discretix’ Multi-Scheme Mobile DRM Client meets rigorous CMLA specifications

Using hardware-based security and conforming to operator's requirements, Discretix offers a robust implementation of OMA DRM V2.0 standard

SAN MATEO, CA — May 10th 2007
Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security and content protection solutions for mobile devices and flash memory, announced today that it has become a licensee of the Content Management License Administrator (CMLA) trust model, an end-to-end specification for secure distribution of premium digital content.

Discretix has incorporated the CMLA model in its Multi-Scheme DRM Client, ensuring mobile device OEMs, platform vendors and service providers of full compliance with the OMA DRM V2.0 standard, and a secure and seamless rollout of music, videos, games and other premium content.

With added hardware-based embedded security solutions - such as Discretix’ CryptoCell® or TI's M-Shield™ Security technology – the Client features an outstanding level of security and high performance, conforming to the stringent security and usability requirements set down by mobile operators.

Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Digital Rights Management (DRM) is an industry technical standard that allows content providers to control the access and distribution of their digital products. CMLA was formed with the backing of Intel, Nokia, Panasonic (Matsushita Electric) and Samsung Electronics to aid the implementation of OMA DRM V2.0 in mobile devices; its specification has been mandated by many mobile operators and enhances OMA DRM V2.0 by imposing additional compliance and robustness requirements for digital rights management.

“Robust digital rights management is perhaps the single most critical component for owners and distributors of premium digital content. CMLA is an important building block in the establishment of a secure content distribution model. By implementing the CMLA model in its DRM Client, Discretix is giving a significant boost to the availability of secure DRM for handset OEMs” said Gary Mittelstaedt, Policy Chair of CMLA, LLC.

With the integration of the CMLA trust model, Discretix simplifies the rollout of OMA DRM V2.0 and further broadens its already exceptional DRM support. The DRM Client provides a complete implementation of the key schemes in use today: OMA DRM V1.0, OMA DRM V2.0, Microsoft WM-DRM 10 and CPRM, with the flexibility to add new schemes as they become available.
