Discretix to provide CryptoCellT-based OMA DRM platform, integrated with Core Logic's MS WMDRM Technology
SEOUL, KOREA and SAN MATEO, CA - Sep 12, 2006 - Core Logic Inc. (KDQ: 048870), a global leader in mobile multimedia system-on-a-chip (SoC) products, and Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security solutions for mobile devices and flash memory, today announced an agreement for strategic cooperation in OMA-DRM Technology.
As part of this agreement, Core Logic will license Discretix's OMA DRM technology, based on the CryptoCellT embedded security platform. CryptoCell will be adopted across Core Logic's MAP family and integrate with its existing DRM to provide DRM solution with higher performance.
With CryptoCell technology in place, mobile handset manufacturers who use MAP processors will benefit from a robust, configurable framework that supports a complete range of protection, from boot-level security to advanced digital rights management. The addition of CryptoCell-based OMA DRM onto the MAP family will give handset manufacturers optimized DRM that covers the device as well as all onboard applications and content.
The MAP family of Core Logic, Inc. is a core SoC product for Multimedia phones, a new killer application for mobile phones, that provides power efficiency, high multimedia processing speed, and higher resolution video and graphics. It also provides audio playback functions such as MP3, AAC and is consumed by major phone manufacturers.
CryptoCell optimizes security protection, power consumption and silicon footprint in a solution that can be tailored to meet specific design requirements. The product is a multi-purpose platform that can protect onboard applications like DRM, device management, secure protocols and commerce, as well as a device's middleware and hardware. Its cryptographic core supports all major crypto algorithms.
